Spragg’s Meat Shop products can be found year round,
Thursday through Sunday, at the Calgary Farmers’ Market and the Market on
Macleod. We have a lot of experience with farmers’ market shoppers and
we work hard to eliminate many of the issues that can
arise, but we’d like to share a few tips that will help make your market
experience a positive one. Better safe than sorry!
Never forget your reusable shopping bags or totes. Not only will
you be doing the environment a favour, but you’ll also be doing yourself a
favour by freeing up your hands for the day. The markets do not have shopping
carts, so plan to carry and transport your purchases back to your vehicle.
Cash is king. Although many vendors have debit machines, there is always the rare chance
that technology will fail if the booth is located in an area with a weak connection.
Withdraw cash from an ATM on location before you begin to shop, or stop at the
bank beforehand.
Come early. You’ve heard it
before: available while supplies last. It is not uncommon for vendors to sell
out, especially if they are offering a seasonal item that is high in demand.
Don’t miss your opportunity to shop for your favourite items, beat the rush! To
avoid this issue altogether, we are happy to take orders a week in advance,
available for pickup on market days.

Dog friendly?
Stroller friendly? Because food is being sold, only service dogs are exempt from
a no animal policy at the farmers’ markets. It is always
best to find the answers to these questions in advance. Ask us your questions
on Facebook a few days before you plan on visiting the farmers’ market. We never want to turn anyone
away, but the key is to create the most positive, safe environment for all
consumers.

located in Rosemary, Alberta. Greg and Bonnie Spragg
raise hogs, process, and market their pork products direct to Albertan
consumers. Spragg’s works hard to produce the best pork for Albertans, from the
